Holistic Rating: Moderate coverage of this standard.
Page A11 introduces the concept which later has moderate coverage on pages A21-A23, especially page A23.

Aspects that help student learning:
Table on page A23 compares photosynthesis and cell respiration, and correctly states that cellular respiration occurs in both plants and animals.


Aspects that do not help student learning:
The California Science Framework notes that respiration in lungs refers just to exhaling carbon dioxide, and is a limited use of the word. Cellular respiration is not the same as breathing. This potential confusion is not addressed in the text.
