Standard: Show Content Tip
1a Students know how to design and build simple series and parallel circuits by using components such as wires, batteries, and bulbs.

Holistic Rating: In-Depth coverage of this standard.
Pages D36-D47 provide in-depth coverage of this standard (Teacher's Guide does not cite pages D36-D43, but these establish background and experience with circuits, switches, insulators and conductors).

Aspects that help student learning:
Students have multiples experiences with different kinds of circuits.

Aspects that do not help student learning:
The wording in the "Build Your Portfolio" exercise on page D53 can be confusing. The circuit looks like a correctly built circuit, just that the switch is open. Perhaps it would be better to say, "what is wrong with this picture?" (the light is on even though the switch is open).
