Fennec foxes are one kind of miniature foxes. These miniature foxes are commonly thriving in North Africa in the northern part of the Sahara Desert. They are easily spotted because they possess with them the characteristic of having large ears that are unusual. These foxes have been found to be the smallest canid species the world has ever known. These foxes also comprise internal organs that are capable of withstanding the harshest and highest temperatures as well as low-water desert environments. Their ears that have just been mentioned that are unusually large for their bodies are not just irrelevant organs, they are quite sensitive when it comes to hearing any moving possible prey around them.
Fennec foxes have a lifespan of a maximum of twelve years while living in the wild. They have been usually found to dig sands to serve as their own habitats. They can then be taken in as pets if they are given the right kind of training so that they become tame. As a matter of fact, animal organizations consider this kind of fox as a special kind of fox that can be kept by a person as a pet just like the silver fox which is also a domesticated fox.
Generally speaking, Fennec foxes have always considered the wild as their natural habitat. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of people out there who do not consider them as domesticated foxes; however, they can still be considered as pets just as long as the right training is being provided to them.
